Burovski

The inheritance is in the order.

From great-grandfather to grandfather, from grandfather to Dad — and from me to my children.

Me

My children

Great-grandfather made it his way. Grandfather and Dad made it the same way, without changing a thing. What's left to me is the same work — and the duty to hand it to my children just as I received it.

The Burovski family

Plenty of houses in Maleševo have their own rakija, and their own story about it. This is ours.

Nobody ever wrote the recipe down. It was passed on the way the important things in a house usually are — by watching, by repeating, over years.

For a long time it was rakija for our own. For the table at home, for whoever came through the door, for winter evenings.

The same rakija is outside the house now. The recipe stayed the same. So did the village — Rusinovo, near Berovo. The only thing that changed is that people who have never sat at our table can taste it.

So the inheritance isn't in old objects, or in big words. It's in the order the work is done in — and in the fact that the order doesn't change.

The founder

Martin Burovski.

When the bottle first took the family name, Martin Burovski signed it. Until then the rakija belonged to the house. From then on, his name stands on it too.

He received the recipe whole and did not change it. His work is to keep it the same — and to answer for it.

He carries the rakija to people who have never sat at the family table.

Place

The first word.

Maleševo isn't the backdrop to this story — it's the first word of it. The family comes from here, the recipe comes from here, and so does the name MALEŠEVEC.

When a bottle ends up somewhere far away, Rusinovo travels with it.

The first word.

Craft

The way it was always made.

Not out of nostalgia, but because that way works: every step happens when its time comes, not when it's convenient.

The way it was always made.

Time

The years write the difference.

DOMAŠNA and MALEŠEVEC start from the same recipe and the same barrels. What separates them isn't a secret ingredient. It's five more years in the oak.

The years write the difference.

The glass

The story ends at a table.

Not in a display case, not on a shelf. A rakija that waited this many years deserves to be opened — with people who like to stay at the table a little longer.

Meet all three

The story ends at a table.
